COVID-19: Paid Leave & Short-Term Disability

 UPS Teamsters are eligible for short-term disability and paid leave if they are under the care of a doctor for COVID-19, or have been advised to self-quarantine by a physician or teladoc.

Paid Leave If You Have COVID-19


UPS will pay UPS up to 2 weeks (10 days) of paid leave to Teamsters who have COVID-19 and live with someone with COVID-19 or have been quarantined or treated by UPS, a government agency, or medical professional.Eight hours per day will pay for full-time employees, and part-time employees will spend 3.5 hours per hour.Please fill out the Employee Request Form to apply for emergency paid leave. Then email it to CoVID19Pay@UPS.com.After the email has submit, the approval process takes 5-7 business days. You must fill in the form accurately to avoid delays.


Two Weeks are Over


You can either use your paid time off after exhausting the ten days of unpaid leave or apply for short-term disability benefit benefits.

If an employee self-quarantines or uses paid time off (PTO) and is later diagnosed as having COVID-19, the company can repopulate the Paid Time-Off up to 35/80 hours.


TeamCare short-term disability benefits


TeamCare covers UPS Teamsters who can receive short-term disability benefits, if:

  • For COVID-19, you are under the care of a doctor
  • A physician, teladoc, or state agency has advised you to self-quarantine

TeamCare's short-term disability benefits offer 60 percent of the average weekly base pay up to $500 per week for 26 weeks. It also includes endless health benefits.

You will not receive short-term disability benefits while on paid leave or receiving other compensation.

TeamCare members on leave, lay-off, or terminated are not eligible for short-term disability.

To initiate your leave, you must contact Aetna. Complete the Coronavirus Short-Term Disability Claim form.
